Cryolophosaurus were a type of theropod dinosaur from the early Jurassic era. They appear in the short story the Unquiet Woods and the longform novel, Primeval: A Grave New World. Several come through an anomaly in New Haven, CT in May of 2020 and are encountered by Emmanuel, Ellie, Janee, and Noah after the group stumbles upon an anomaly in the woods.
Incursions and encounters[]
A group of Cryolophosaurs comes through an anomaly in New Haven, Connecticut in May of 2020. The creatures stalk the group of Ellie, Emmanuel, Janee, and Noah in the woods while remaining unseen. When Ellie and Emmanuel leave Noah and Janee alone, one sneaks up on the couple and kills Janee by snapping her neck. Ellie and Emmanuel come upon the creature holding the lifeless Janee in its jaws. The creature is then scared off by Danny Quinn.
The same individual then ambushes by the group of Danny, Ellie, and Emmanuel. Ellie is severely injured in this attack and suffers a broken rib. The creature is subsequently beaten by Danny Quinn with his stick, Molly. After this individual is defeated, Emmanuel shines his flashlight into the woods revealing more creatures. The group decides to run up the mountain to a cabin.
A trio of Cryolophosaurus stalks the group through long grass to the cabin. They are fended off by Ellie with Danny's stick as the group breaks into the cabin. The humans make it inside and encounter Patrick Quinn. Meanwhile, a single Cryolophosaurus edges the door open only to be shot by Danny's EMD. However, this only proves mildly effective. The EMD dies as the dinosaur bursts through the door shortly after. It attempts to kill Patrick but Danny is able to overpower the creature using his stick. The dinosaurs is pushed outside and over the railing of the cabin snapping its neck.
Patrick escapes only to be injured by one of the Cryolophosaurus.
Another Cryolophosaurus breaks in through the window and destroys the wall of the cabin. It attempts to eat Ellie but Emmanuel distracts the creature from her. He is prepared to give his life for her but Ellie is able to fix the EMD and shoots the Cryolophosaurus to death with it. This allows their escape from the cabin.
Ellie and Emmanuel eventually find the anomaly and Ellie's necklace gets sucked through. It lands on the snout of a Cryolophosaurus on the other side which causes it to investigate. It appears through the anomaly and is briefly distracted when Emmanuel allows the EMD to be sucked through into the creature's face. The couple runs from the dinosaur and hide in an old RV where they find Danny and Patrick. The creature follows and breaks through the RV window. Danny attempts to keep its attention while the others escape but Patrick decides to lead the dinosaur away. He gets its attention and runs towards the anomaly with the creature in toe. It eventually catches up with him and mortally wounds him before disappearing through the anomaly.
While watching the anomaly, the Cryolophosaurus that was beaten by Danny appears. It has a torn piece of jacket and a hunk of flesh in its mouth confirming that it killed Noah at some point during the night. It looks at the group before disappearing through the anomaly just before it closes.
In Primeval: A Grave New World, the Cryolophosaurus that is carrying Noah's remains is seen by Ken Leeds before being scared away by Toby Nance and Mac Rendell.

Errors[]
- Cryolophosaurus in the Unquiet Woods had two seprate crests atop its head. In real life, this crest was a singular structure.
